I had the pleasure to meet Elena Leman, author of the Shadowlight series, in a virtual meeting & discuss the first book in the series, titled Incandescence. Co-hosting with the lovely Christina, we got to discover more about this metaphysical romance novel that is bound to leave you craving for more!

The author took us to Instaar, a planet unique and filled with mystical energy. Our main character is Orobella, a Crystellian, whose mission is to collect emotion crystals across the universe by inhabiting temporary forms/bodies of the recently deceased. This time, Orobella inhabited the body of a water nymph, with emerald skin and short, red hair.
Smoku is her guide, a talking gecko that only she can see, and is tasked to help her search and collect the emotion crystals.
All is going well until Orobella meets Sambro is a fierce warrior and a spiritual tattoo artist, future leader of the Lasota tribe. Lured to him by forces greater than herself, Orobella strikes a deal he can't refuse: she will teach his baby sister how to sing if he gives her a sacred Lasota tattoo.
But that is only the beginning of their story.
This forced proximity relationship is going to lead both of them into something unknown, while Sambro struggles to defeat the demons of his past and Orobella tries to complete her mission.
It is the purity of the emotions spilt in ink that will leave you hungry for more, with descriptions that make the mind travel in the universe.
The book is very close to Elena's heart. The story helped her heal from personal trauma, her passion evident in the pages of the story. Hearing her talk about her book and characters makes me want to read the entire series on the spot -even if she hasn't written the next books yet!

We talked about the process of finding an artist for the cover, the freedom individual publishing gives the author but also the difficulties one mind face. We are absolutely obsessed with the gorgeous illustrations by Daniella Salamão (@daniellasalamao) And that map is insane! Have a peek!

We had so much during the book talk! We laughed and joked a lot -especially behind the scenes- and we got to share our opinion on the publishing process!
What I think is important to mention is how strongly we encourage young authors to follow their dreams! The road to success is difficult and you will face many obstacles! You have to keep trying and believe in yourself! In the end, you will succeed.
As Elena said, and I quote, "It will pay off, it must pay off, there is no other option! The law of attraction will bring it all together!"
