Book Tour: QUEEN TO ASHES by Mallory McCartney

Updated: May 29, 2021

Hello bookdragons!

Raven's Bookish Network proudly presents Queen to Ashes, the thrilling continuation of the Black Dawn series! The book was re-published on April 21st, 2020, by MM Books.

About the book:

"You lived your entire life feeling like half of you was missing. Fight for the missing part. Fight for this."

Emory Fae has abandoned everything she thought she knew about her previous life on Earth. Stepping up to her role as Queen of Kiero she makes a startling sacrifice- feigning her allegiances to Adair Stratton, the man who murdered her parents and casted Kiero into ruin. Emory's memories slowly piece together, and she soon realizes the Mad King may not be all he seems-- and the man who was once best friend, may be fighting beneath the surface.

With the King's attention on her, can she buy Black Dawn Rebellion enough time to recuperate their forces? And when the times comes, will she be able to kill Adair, ending his tyranny and rising herself as the rightful Queen? Fighting to hide her secret, Emory navigates the brutal trials of the Mad King, trying not to lose herself in the process.

Sequel to Heir of Lies, now a bestselling series, the sparks are ignited, as Emory learns the cost of freedom, and her heritage. Will the rebels unite in time? A sinister force has spread across the land, stripping everyone bare- their betrayals, their secrets, their intentions. But above all, what will their decisions cost? By refusing to give in to the darkness, will Emory rise as Queen?

Day 1

Quote:

“She wouldn't become his weapon. She would become his nightmare.”

Excerpt:

"You lived your entire life feeling like half of you was missing. Fight for the missing part. Fight for this."

And she fought. Every breath, every second, she fought for that girl who was now dead. The girl who dreamed of another world, of having a family, of a home. Of a prince waiting for her. Who was never satisfied and had always wanted more than her job, than her friends. She had been displaced, like oil in water. But now. The woman had emerged, alone. She was questioning but regal. Clumsy but deadly. She was lost in a kingdom filled with snakes. Filled with lies not answers. A woman who could kill. @ravens_books

Day 2

Review:

4/⭐

I was really excited to get my hands on this book after finishing Heir of Lies a while ago. I loved the sequel and the writing is fabulous. The world building is very unique and gripping with such a unique concept. I enjoyed watching Emory's character develop, change and move on as the story progresses. It was nice seeing where she was and where she is now as a person. The diversity of the characters is mind blowing to the point that you can fully recognize each ones traits and weaknesses. As for the romance 😏 I can't wait to read more of it and find out what happens! I am definitely picking up the next book. @wings_and_ruin

Review:

After finishing Queen To Ashes, I’ve had to take a moment to fully digest the twists and turns this story has taken since Black Dawn. Every single character has had to face their own horrifying and traumatic events, but I absolutely loved it.

Queen To Ashes makes an excellent and engaging sequel that fantasy fans of all ages are sure to enjoy.

Day 3

Excerpt:

"Her mind screamed that she was going into shock as the color drained from her skin, as her limbs trembled harder. Her body betrayed her for the briefest of seconds as Adair looked at her hungrily, his dark gaze ravaging her.

The room seemed to tilt, and her mind felt thick and constricted. The bloodied sword was still in her hand, and Brokk’s body splayed out lifelessly between them: Life and Death. Love and Loss. Light and Dark. This is the divide her life had taken, and one that she was completely and utterly lost in. Suffocated in.

What had she done?" @panda_book6

Day 5

Quote:

“The world was constructed into splintered shards. A domino effect of decisions, of mistakes, of success, of heartbreak, of loneliness. Of fear.”

Q&A with author Mallory McCartney & @thesunandalltheotherstars

Q: How were you inspired for this series?

A: I feel like this story and characters I have carried with me for a long time in my

life, but it was my inspiration of wanting to become an author that pushed me to

start. I knew I wanted to write an epic fantasy with high stakes and lots of action

so it started there.

Q: Which character is your favorite and why?

A: I love Adair! I’m a sucker for morally grey villians? I also really love Marquis!

Q: Which scene was the one you felt close to?

A: That’s a hard question! I loved writing Marquis’s scene in Queen to Ashes, he has

a big role to play in the series and knowing where his story goes, I felt close to

that scene.

Q: Who would you choose Emory Fae or Adair? And why?

A: I would choose Adair, because he is such a dynamic character, and I hope my

readers see both sides to his story through Heir of Lies and Queen to Ashes. The

poor guy needs a hug.

Q: What do you want readers to explore /experience in this sequel?

A: I want my readers to buckle in for story that has a lot of twists and is even scary

in some parts, but I also want them to experience the love, fellowship, and friends

between the cast of characters.
