"Cracked Coffins was a twisted story about love and obsession. It has a very dark theme and... wow.. a big ride!
Story-wise I thought it was interesting, not the generic vampire story you are thinking of, and it's different from the books of its kind.
I'm curious about what will happen to book 2!"

Day 5
Q&A with Author Beronika Keres & @jenareadsbooks
Q- First off, I wanted to congratulate you on the publishing of Cracked Coffins! What inspired you to write the book?
A- Thank you! My main inspiration came from my love of vampires, especially vampire romances and evil vampires. I wondered what a story would look like if the relationship was abusive since a human/vampire power dynamic could be easily taken advantage of, and how it might play out if both people in that relationship were volatile and ruthless.
Q- I know it’s always hard to choose between characters, but who is your favourite character from your book, Cracked Coffins?
A- It's definitely hard to choose, but aside from my main character, I'd have to say Denendrius. As evil as he is, he was still a fun character to create. I got to do a lot of psychology and historical research for him.
Q- With COVID-19 going on right now, what do you do to keep yourself productive and busy during the day?
A- I'm fortunate that not much changed for me aside from schooling moving online. My creativity and productivity has taken a hit, but I just do my best to push through it.
Q- I would kill for a great book recommendation, so what’s one underrated book you always recommend?
A- One of my favourite books of all time is Lighthouse Nights by Jake Vander Ark. It's a dark romance about suicide and it blew me away. It doesn't get the attention it deserves.
Q- Have you started writing the second book already? If so, can you give us a piece of small information about it?
A- I am currently doing rewrites for book 2. It'll pick up where Cracked Coffins left off and delves deep into the world of vampires and into Denendrius's history. There's a lot of surprises I can't wait to reveal!
